After much demand for passenger service, the Virginia & Truckee Railroad is pleased to announce coordinated over-night express service with the Central Pacific Railroad from San Francisco to Virginia City! With numerous state-of-the-art locomotives pulling the latest in luxury and design passenger coach cars, the Lightning Express will provide the quickest travel over the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
You'll glide across the rails through the majestic mountains and open desert in our fantastic coaches while your luggage is secured in our express, baggage and mail cars. The only transfer will be in Reno, Nevada. Optional sleeper cars from Sacramento to Virginia City are available, so you can get your over night travel undisturbed!
